UX Research
It is essential to understand who exactly Anna's potential clients are, what motivates them, and what challenges they face when searching for an illustrator
Three core segments have been identified. Each with different needs but one common goal: to find a reliable illustrator with a unique visual voice who can bring their story to life
They need an illustrator who understands narrative, characters, and emotional tone
Pain points:● Hard to find someone with both artistic talent and professionalism● Fear of low-quality or inconsistent work
How it was solved:1. A dedicated section showcasing illustration process and story-based approach 2. Testimonials to build trust
They’re looking for illustrators who match a specific style brief, have predictable quality, and can deliver on time
Pain points:● Need clear understanding of the illustrator’s working method● Prefer someone with a strong, recognizable style
How it was solved:1. A full “Process” section to show step-by-step workflow 2. Highlight of past projects
They want to create a personalized illustrated book for their child — a unique keepsake
Pain points:● Unsure how the process works● Fear of communication gap or vague pricing
How it was solved:1. Friendly, accessible tone throughout the website 2. Clear call-to-action and step-by-step explanation of how to order 3. Option to book a consultation in one click
SUMMARY:
Anna’s audience is diverse, but all of them value emotional connection, trust, visual uniqueness, and professionalism.
The website is designed to deliver on all of these through clear structure, emotionally driven design, transparent presentation of services, easy user flow and one click to book a consultation

A competitor analysis was conducted to better understand the visual and strategic landscape of children’s book illustrators
An illustrator’s visual identity plays an important role. Each website reflects a unique style that helps differentiate the artist from competitors. However, general trends reveal mostly basic portfolio presentations with little storytelling elements
SUMMARY:
In contrast, Anna Bondarenko stands out with her emotionally rich, textured style that mimics oil painting on canvas. This became the foundation for the website’s structure and visual direction, highlighting her uniqueness and deep storytelling approach
● Immersive layout that feels like pages of a storybook● Unique visual elements and illustrations● Telling a story about Anna, not just flat portfolio
My personal Challenges
One of the main challenges I faced while working on this project was adapting to a richly illustrated and emotionally expressive visual style. Something quite different from my usual minimalist approach
To rise to the occasion, I immersed myself in the world of children’s book illustrators: I studied dozens of portfolios, identified stylistic patterns, and explored how to balance artistic atmosphere with the primary goal of attracting clients and selling services
As part of this preparation, I ordered one of Anna’s published books on Amazon to experience her work in print and better understand the texture, rhythm, and emotion of her illustration style. (My daughter loves this book)

Conclusion
But the best part is the illustrator’s feedback and the new clients she’s getting through the website

The site is wonderful 🥰 thank you once again! 😊 I realized that even though I haven’t run any ads, clients still find it from Instagram and Facebook. Now I’m thinking about updating the projects because I’ve done so many over the past year))
